The application period for the 2021 Open Stage programme of the Espa Stage has ended!

Thank you for your applications for Espa Stages's summer 2021 OPEN STAGE program! The 2021 Call for Proposals is now closed.

We will inform all applicants about the selection's results by May.


WHAT IS OPEN STAGE?

Open Stage events are held from May to August, from Wednesdays to Saturdays (15 May–23 July and 13–29 August 2021). The application period for 2021 was from 22 February to 14 March 2021.

Open Stage is intended for communities, choirs and passionate hobbyists. No fees or remunerations are paid for Open Stage shows.

Open Stage welcomes choirs, vocal and instrumental bands, dance and circus schools and other performances.

This year, the Open Stage programme is carried out in collaboration with Radio Helsinki!

​​​​​​​Some of the concerts will be broadcast on Radio Helsinki’s frequencies in the summer.Radio Helsinki will curate which performers selected for the Espa Stage will have their performances broadcast on radio!


Details about the stage

The Espa Stage is 9.5 metres wide and 5.5 metres in depth. The outdoor stage in front of the glass structure is an additional 2.5 metres in depth. There are social spaces for performers, two toilets and a small cooking area beneath the stage.

The Espa Stage provides a compact PA system and a small lighting rig, but only in the summer.

Other performances on the espa stage

The Espa Stage features performances throughout the summer. The programme includes high-quality festivals and theme days featuring Finland’s top artists, international visitors and surprising performer combinations. The organisers of each festival and event recruit the performers for these events directly and are responsible for the performers’ agreements and fees. No open application process is held for these events.
